The Memory of the Birth of Apostle Muhammad (PBUH)

Mr. Mahmoud Ashour
Vice Consul - Ministry of Al-Azhar Affairs
Rabi-ul-Awwal 1420 - June 1999

The Apostle (PBUH) established an arrangement for the social side of life, based on the most solid theory, and the most purified, which is the theory of the General Brotherhood. This theory does not favor sex over sex or color over color. Instead, it puts all the human being community on one level regarding the natural human rights. As Allah said in Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 13:
"O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another".
So, all human beings are equal in the same origin and the same destiny, descended all from the same origin. They are brothers despite of their ramification into tribes and communities. The rights of one brother over the other are:
1. Guarantee the natural rights in Free life, and Noble living without any enslavement or despotism.
2. No exploitation, selfishness or tyranny.
3. Replying the call of help, and deter our brothers fear.
4. Succor our brother's gasp, and satisfy their need.
Muhammad (PBUH) emerged on the man kind with this noble theory, like sun emerges with it's warmth and light after a long cold gloomy night that it's terminals have expanded over decades and generations. People before the mission of Muhammad (PBUH), were not earning their money from a
natural right in life. In the contrary, generations everywhere on earth were opening their eyes on a life of misery and disgrace, and close their eyes, after the passage of their lives in shivering pain and moaning caused by misery and disgrace, too.
Since, the class of rulers and their servants and companions in any region of the regions on earth, claim for themselves a sacred right, as if they were created from the water of the heaven, and the light of the stars. As for the public common people, they have to live in disgrace, poverty, ignorance, and disease. Until the word of Allah (SWT) came on the tongue of Muhammad (PBUH), to reach the people reverberant and resonant: "I am just a human being like the rest of you".
Then comes the first successor from the students of the school of light and right guidance, meeting the community as he starts his regimen, saying: "I was inaugurated to rule you, and I am not the best amongst you. So, if you see me doing right, help me, and if you see me doing wrong, correct me".
Then the practical application of the theory of the General Human Brotherhood, regardless of any earthly consideration, came as much wonderful as decisive at the same time. In the beginning of the mission, some of the Noble inhabitants of Mecca came to the generous Prophet (PBUH) arrogantly asking him to abduce the poor believers from his assembly so that they (The Noble People) could join him and listen to him. The prophet's (PBUH) care on guiding all people, caused him to delay their request, then comes the revelation from heaven with the word of arbitration saying in Surah Al-Kahf, verse 28:
"And keep yourself (O Muhammad (PBUH)) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, and other righteous deeds) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face; and let not your eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp and glitter of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, and who follows his own lusts, and whose affairs (deeds) has been lost"
Yes 'keep yourself patiently' with those poor people, and refuse proudly with high self-esteem this arrogance that deviate the General Brotherhood of the man kind from it's straight path, since there is no individual better than another with what he/she possess, and man is greater than another with his/her lineage. In Islam, there is no race more Noble than another; all people are from Adam, and Adam is from earth. With the lucid words of Allah (SWT), and the practical application of His Apostle (PBUH), to support the principle of the General Brotherhood, the sacred right collapsed that was pulled out by the rulers and their companions from the hands of the common public. The theory of taking the common public like animals that produce for the minority that enjoy their production, and they end up swimming long swim in misery and disgrace until Allah (SWT) permit the end of their lives, melted by the fiery ardor of the Islamic Call. By the fall down of the sacred rights, the chains that people used to live with, has been destroyed, and the eyes was opened to realize their reality in the being, and look forward to their rights in Free Life and Noble Living, and enjoy the fruits of their effort and work of their hands. So, the Islamic community became verily a real high-level model for the upraised Human Community, with the full sense of the word, since the ruler is a true brother to every individual in the community.
If the Muslims celebrate the memory of the Birth of the Prophet (PBUH), let them memorize the meanings of freedom, honor, dignity, sovereignty, and self-esteem. Let them also memorize along with these meanings, the correct manifestation that was summarized by the Prophet (PBUH) is his enlightened words that crystallize the objective of his mission in short and expressively: "I was sent to complete the Noble Ethics".
From the Islamic point of view, Noble Ethics means nothing but the following:
1. Straight ideology and belief, and it's freedom of any kind of falseness.
2. Moderate behavior, and it's purification of blemishes of deviation.
3. Feeling the General Brotherhood disinfect of peccadillo of disgrace, selfishness, and despotism.
The celebration of the Muslims of the Prophet's (PBUH) Birth memory, need to be coming out of a clear understanding to his mission, and a practical application to his legislation. It is not only this phenomena that we used to witness every year, of decorations and race to buy and eat sweats. The celebration of the birth of the chosen prophet (PBUH), need to be much more deeper and greater from all these counterfeited appearances, and celebrations that after it's finished, people forget all what was said from resonant speeches. Not only that, non-Muslims, if they can realize with clear unbiased sight, they would have celebrated the Prophet's (PBUH) advent to this world. The Prophet has lived his life not for himself and not for a specific group of people, but for the humanity, for every and each individual wherever he/she is located on the land of Allah (SWT), from east to west.
So, he attained the mission, and kept the trust, and suffered in this path what was recorded in history and saved by the days. He provided evidences for his truthfulness after he was proceeded by clear signs in the previous Holy Books of Allah (SWT) declaring and announcing his advent with his mission, highlighting the venerability of his characters. We don't think a rational with sight individual who listen and comprehend and follow the guidance, and is free of any prejudice or wicked purposes, would debate in this truth or deny it.
As for the irrational with sight, they have strayed themselves from the path of Allah (SWT), and have burdened their conscience in front of Allah (SWT), and in front of the history, with shameful sins.
In the venerable memory of the advent of the chosen Prophet (PBUH), we move ahead in the companionship of the last of the Apostles, praying to Allah (SWT) to let him be our patron saint in the doomsday, and to be resurrected accompanying him, for he (PBUH) said: "The person is resurrected with the ones he/she loved".
In this memory also, I urge all Muslims in the east of the earth and in the west, to take after their Prophet, and to stick to the path he followed, as Allah (SWT) said in his Holy preserved Book Al Qur'an Al-Kareem in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21:
"Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad (PBUH)) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much".
